Development of Scintillator‐Based Muon Detectors for Muography

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this chapter, we describe basic features and give some current applications of the most popular detection technology used in muography: scintillator-based muon detectors, widely not only volcanology, where their properties find natural applications, but also geosciences, archeology, non-invasive industrial control, civil engineering, homeland security, nuclear non-proliferation more. As will emphasize following sections, there are many advantages use scintillators, which known to be robust – therefore usable harsh environmental conditions offer real-time analogic measurement capabilities with a good space time resolution. The design such detectors is flexible may different ways depending on target under study, field conditions, modularity etc. Throughout focus one particular detector (also referred as “muon telescope”) originally designed study active volcanic dome Soufrière Guadeloupe show generic technique.

Investigating the capability of plastic scintillation detectors in design of a muon radiography system by Geant4 code

Imaging and identifying materials with high atomic numbers and densities, especially radioactive materials, is one of the issues that have been especially considered in recent years. Due to some limitations in conventional and old imaging techniques, finding an alternative method is very important. The cosmic muons with an infinite source are one of the sources that have been recently studied f...

development of different optical methods for determination of glucose using cadmium telluride quantum dots and silver nanoparticles

a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...

Cosmic Ray Multiple Muon Events in Deep Detectors

A simple model is developed which predicts the average number of multi-TeV muons produced in cosmic ray air showers. The model also give the approximate rates at which different numbers of muons reach a detector's depth. The dependences of the rates on zenith angle, detector depth, primary spectrum and composition, and interaction properties are given. The results are briefly discussed in terms...

Development of GaN photocathodes for UV detectors

We have made substantial progress in the development of GaN photocathodes, including crystalline and polycrystalline GaN and InGaN coatings grown by chemical vapor deposition or molecular beam epitaxy on sapphire substrates. GaN and InGaN photocathodes have been developed with efficiencies up to 70% and cutoffs at 380 nm with low out of band response, and high stability and longevity. Samples h...
